Christian Rock Group - MercyMe
To those who love Christian Contemporary Rock music, you will not be unfamiliar with MercyMe. MercyMe has been around for 10 years, bringing the message of God's love, hope and freedom in their music. I first heard their music when I was playing a compilation of worship songs by Intergrity Music more than a year ago. "I Can Only Imagine" caught my attention almost immediately. With lyrics like - surrounded by your Glory, Lord what will my heart feel? Will I dance before you Jesus or in awe of you be still? Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall? Will I sing Halleluiah? Wld I be able to speak at all... How can anyone hear this and not be moved spiritually towards our Divine Maker?
"I Can Only Imagine" has won many Dove awards and the message it brings was what the post Sep 11th America needed. Of recent, MercyMe was nominated (again) for this year's GMA Music Award for Group of the year while lead singer Bart Millard received nominations for his solo project, "Hymned" for Inspirational Album of the Year.
MercyMe and Bart Millard have also been nominated for Best Adult Contemporary/ Inspirational Performance/ Album of the year.
Other terrific albums of MercyMe include "Almost There" which includes another great Worship song 'How Great is your Love', "Spoken For" & "Undone".
