The Promise of the Holy Spirit

Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Posted by Hello

I remember the first time I was blessed with the gift of tongues. I was desiring for an experience of GOD that I never had. Through an Evangelization in the Spirit Seminar (E.I.S.S), I was prayed over and immediately I began praising GOD in a language I never understood. My tongue was rolling uncontrollably whenever the Spirit wills me to praise GOD. The gift of tongues is a beautiful gift but its not to be seen as the absolute gift. GOD certainly loves all His children equally with or without this gift! Everyone of us are given different gifts from our Heavenly Father.

In my own faith experience, the gift of Tongues opened the doors to other blessings from GOD to pour into my life which beared much fruit. Today, I dont apologize for proclaiming the Kingship of Jesus to strangers or even to the people in my office. GOD could speak to me more clearly in my heart than before. Living the faith through the Spirit has become more necessary for me and whatever I do, I cannot seem to take GOD out of my life's equation.

I will not attempt to define the Holy Spirit. However I will like to share a few Scripture references that are specially chosen by a Catholic website about the Holy Spirit being a Person, not a Force. Click comments to read more.

Taking on a New Role

It runs in the family Posted by Hello

I am deeply grateful to be chosen as the GodPa for my niece on her Confirmation day. Ironically, her Grandfather is my God Father! A family kept secret of more than 25 years revealed only to him a few months ago when I fussed at my own parents for sneaking his name as my official God Parent during my cradle Baptism without telling him all these years while when they had the opportunity to.

I hardly spoke to my God Father before. I merely looked at him from a distance when I was a boy, afraid to tell him Im his GodSon for fear of running into family politics I never knew at that time. It was only last Saturday when I shook his hands and called him "GodPa" for the 1st time. At that moment, I felt closer to family ties that I was seldom close to previously. Although GodPa is my Uncle, the relationship of "GodFather and GodSon" takes our relative relationship on a whole new level. If there is anything to go by, this Godly bond has drawn us together in a unique way.

The role of the GodParent in the Catholic Church is to support the GodChild's parents in his/her own faith development. Its more than just filling up a name for namesake. Its an awesome life-long responsibility that runs within God's family.

The Journey Begins

Youth Confirmants 2005 Posted by Hello

My heartfelt congratulations to the Sec 4 youth Confirmants of St Mary of the Angels Parish on receiving their Sacrament of Confirmation on Apr 30th 05. Ive had the priviledge of journeying with some of them in faith formation since they were 11 years of age and seeing them receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation from the ArchBishop brings me and their Catechists great joy. To these youths, may you continue to proclaim the Good News through your daily witnessing of God's love for you. Remember, receiving Confirmation marks the beginning of your Christian life as a mature person responsible for your relationship with our Heavenly Father. None of you would have patiently journeyed in faith all these years only to leave the Church, so Go! Proclaim the Good News! Be instruments of God's love and mercy, and place your trust in Him for God never fails to bless His children.
